Teaching in Victoria, Australia

To teach in any school in Victoria, requires a Victorian Institute of Teaching registration. You must also have an approved criminal record check. Both of the above can be obtained from the VIT on their web site www.vit.vic.edu.au.  The VIT will check to see whether your qualifications are valid to teach in Victoria.
These two documents must be carried at all times whilst you teach in Victorian schools. Teaching in Victoria also requires you to have a current passport, visa with suitable qualifications.

At the time of writing VIT registration is recognised in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. These states and Territory will also have registration but, with VIT registration that process is made a lot easier.
VIT registration is not recognised in New South Wales, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory.  If you wish to teach in the above states and Territory contact the Education Department of the above.
Independent (Private) and Catholic schools also require VIT registration in Victoria. They have their own registration process within each state or territory. They also require a current criminal records check. It is advisable that you contact the schools directly as they will be able to advise you on precise requirements.
